Mockup for cover of my soon-to-be-published (and last) book.

Note that this is an exploration of a purely Northern Arthur.  I have thus returned to my roots, so to speak.  Nothing fancy in this one.  I do not seek to identify Arthur with someone else.  Nor do I delve into whether or not Uther Pendragon is a manufactured name and epithet or title.  Instead, I concentrate only on actual extant place-names and personal names, archaeology and what little we know of the history of the time.  The result is a sort of rough portrait, one that is intended to be merely suggestive, rather than comprehensive.  This does not mean that my analysis is sparse or my methodology simplistic. Rather, I decided to rest content with pointing to the most logical sphere of military activity for Arthur, and extrapolated from that where the most likely ruling center for him might be. Some readers, I expect, will not be satisfied with this approach or its conclusions.  But at least my interpretation of the evidence, such as it is, cannot this time be said to be overly speculative or irritatingly opaque.
