COMING SOON: Addressing the Galfridian Tradition of Illtud as Arthur's Father

While I've dealt with Illtud/Uther Pendragon as Arthur's father being a fiction introduced by Geoffrey of Monmouth, several readers have written to me privately asking that I revisit the issue with a mind to answering one seemingly simple question: if Illtud was not Arthur's father, why did Geoffrey pick him to be so?
